The Nintendo Entertainment System (often refereed to as NES) is an 8-bit video game console released by Nintendo. It was first released in 1985, and in Japan as the Family Computer, or simply Famicom'.
A truly successful Console, it sold over 60 million units, and it helped revitalize the video game industry after the Video Game crash of 1983. It set most standards for later consoles, with Super Mario Bros., the systems first major success. The NES (or famicom was the first to allow third party developers to create games.)
